GAS
I don’t know about you but for me its hard to find a Garlic strain. On top of that it’s almost impossible to find one that checks all the boxes. When I saw that Ponderosa had Platinum Garlic on their menu I was all over it. This wasn’t my first time with this strain neither. The batch I had was from a home grower however and it actually wasn’t bad. I was very intrigued to see how the run from Canamo was versus the home grown run. I was also very excited to have finally found a garlic strain on the market. Sooo, let’s talk about it!

Looks & Presentation
As you can see, this strain delivered in the looks department. The buds were a vibrant bright green. It was the type of green that made me think of the perfect picnic setting. The trichomes glistened in the light. They gave the green an extra sparkle. Close your eyes and imagine a grassy pasture. Now, imagine the suns rays gracefully glistening on the tips of the grass. Just looking at the buds brought me peace. They definitely earned a 5 out of 5 in the looks and presentation category.
Smell & Freshness
As I cracked the bag open, I damn near dropped it. The smell was heavenly. It smelled exactly like steak and mushrooms. It was hard to keep the saliva in my. mouth. Crazy part was all I did was open the pack. I didn’t even get to break it down yet. But, when I did break it down I was blown away. Those garlic terpenes only got stronger. They were so strong they made my nose tingle just a little. That exact moment reminded me why I fell in love with cannabis. The way it can make you feel before you even smoke it is amazing. Platinum Garlic definitely earned a 5 in the smell and freshness category. Especially since the buds were perfectly cured.

Flavor
What really let me down was the flavor. I can’t really say it was a full let down. I just expected more from it. Only because it did so well in the previous categories. I was able to notice the Platinum on almost every hit. It wasn’t very strong. Strong enough to make its presence known however. If you don’t know, Platinum has a sweet taste to it. I guess you can expect that from a strain crossed with Platinum Cookies. There were hints of garlic as well. They just were not as strong as the smell which was the part that let me down. All in all I could give this strain a 4 out of 5 in taste.
High
The high was instantaneous. If I wasn’t high from the first it, I was definitely high from the second. I immediately felt it behind my eyes. They not only felt warm but extremely fuzzy as well. It only got better from there. As I continued smoking, I got higher and higher. I know you’re thinking, “Duh”. But we all know that there are times where you can just cap out and stop getting high. That was not the case with the Platinum Garlic. I thought multiple times about putting it out. Yet, I bossed up and took the entire blunt to the dome. Let’s just say, I lost a few hours after that. 5 out 5 in the high category for sure.
All in all I enjoyed my experience with this strain. The high made up for what the flavor lacked. Can I add this to my top 5 all time favorite garlic strains? Absolutely not. I can however, say it was one of the best garlic strains I have had. The price made it even better. I highly recommend giving this strain a spin if you see it on the shelves at Pondy.
