For months now, we have been waiting for this moment. Day in and day out we’ve asked not only ourselves, but Grow Sciences as well, when we could expect to see some new flower from them. It is safe to say that we are no more than five days away from one of the biggest drops in Arizona. I mean, this can arguably be the biggest drop in the Valley since the arrival of Alien Labs and Connected. There will be a total of at least six strains dropping on 4/20, and if I am not mistaken, I was given at least half to review. Sooo, let’s talk about them! We’ll start with the strain that is arguably the best: Grape Cream Cake.

Presentation

The bag appeal this strain possessed had me speechless. From inside the glass jar, the trichomes sparkled like diamonds as the light fell upon them. It was hard to tell if the jar had anything to do with the crystal-like appearance of the trichomes; however, the moment I removed the buds, I knew that sparkle had nothing to do with the jar. Lying in my hand was what I considered an absolute delicacy. I had this jewel, covered in a thick forest of diamonds, and beneath that forest were some of the deepest hues of purple I have ever seen. It wasn’t your typical purps that had some purple here and there or the ones that were all purple on the outside and green on the inside; no, these were solid purple buds with a bright green glow. All in all, a perfect 5 out of 5 for the looks.

Smell

The aromas it produced were heavenly to say the least. Before I even began breaking it down, there was a slight presence of grape with a heavy touch of gas. From the moment I cracked the buds open, there was an explosion of cream. I was now floating on a cloud of creamy, kushy, grape-like terps. By the time I had enough to roll up a blunt, those grape terps went from faint to filling the room. It was like a candle I never wanted to burn out; another 5 out of 5.

Flavor

For me, the icing on the cake was definitely the flavor profile. As soon as I sparked the blunt, my taste buds were greeted by the essence of sweet cream and gas. It seemed like no matter how hard I tried, I could not keep myself from coughing up a lung. Even so, I couldn’t get enough of that incredible flavor. As the blunt burned, the flavors amplified; halfway in, grape entered the mix. The combination of grapes, gas, and cream reminded me of eating a cup of grape gelato where, with every bite, my taste buds were zapped by the sweet and tanginess from the grape which then gets washed away by the smoothness of the cream. This is arguably the most delectable terpene profile I have come across and definitely scores a 5 out of 5.

High

Now the best part was the high and it was perfect! Just like the flavor, it got heavier as you smoked it. By the time I was done smoking, I felt as cool as Cool Whip on a stack of French toast. My body was extremely relaxed, and I felt as if I was sinking into the couch. Mind wise, I was focused and still able to knock out the tasks at hand. Even though I couldn’t help but cough ferociously with every hit, the high did not come as fierce. It was a steady incline with a few rough patches. It was almost like a hike that was destroying me physically, yet I could not bring myself to call it quits. Another 5 out of 5 in this category.

If you asked me for an example of the perfect strain, it’s this Grape Cream Cake. Not only for the reasons I mentioned, but also because of the feeling this flower created inside of me the moment it reached my hands. My entire experience with this strain reminded me of when I first got into exotics. I was blown away from start to finish by every feature of these buds. This was another perfect score from the Grow Sciences team who seem to get better with every harvest. Shout-out to Bloom Seed Co. for breeding such a phenomenal cross!
